We know that it’s difficult to visit a church you’ve never been to before. We want to take out as much of the guesswork for you as we can. You can expect a family friendly atmosphere with a safe environment for you and your children, great Jesus focused worship in two different styles, a challenging message straight from the Bible, and friendly people ready to help you find anything you need.

You can also expect a diverse congregation of different ages, colors and ethnic origins all worshiping God together. You can expect to see some people dressed up, and some people dressed down. We don’t want to focus on the outside, because God looks at the heart. You can expect to be greeted, shown where the fresh coffee is, and help with getting your kids in the right place. You can also expect to find a small group for any age to fellowship and study the Bible with. Most importantly, you can expect to connect with God at First Baptist!

Below are some of the other common questions about what to expect:

Meet Billy

What I do

My Job
My job is to ensure that guests are greeted, welcomed, and connected to our church family. After greeting our guests and calling them by name, we provide them with a pamphlet filled with opportunities to connect to our Church. I make myself available to answer any questions regarding our church. We always invite our guest to attend one of our two services, Sunday School and attempt a connection with one of the Life Groups. We also provide a map of the Church and escort the guest to the desired service.

About Me

My background
My wife Cheryl and I have lived in Richmond Hill almost all of our married life and chose this community because of its family centered values. We are blessed with two girls; Katelyn and Bailea who remind us daily of how good God is to us.  You can find us during the weekday working at St. Joseph’s/Candler Hospital and on the weekend with our hands in the soil.

Why I Follow Christ
Although I have always know our Lord and Savior, it wasn’t until I met my wife that I truly became a Christian.  What began as a simple prayer to make me a better man, has become a way of life for me and my family. While I am far from perfect, I serve a Lord that is just and willing to forgive. He has blessed me with far more than I deserve and paid the ultimate sacrifice for my sins.  How could I not put all of my faith our Lord?

Ask me about
I believe that the mission for the First Touch Ministry is to demonstrate Christ’s love by opening our doors and welcoming all who come wanting to know more about Him.  Please ask me how you can get connected to God through our Church and how you too could serve through our First Touch Ministry.

Not at all!  We have a wonderful team of people who are waiting to welcome you to First Baptist Richmond Hill.  We will greet you in the parking lot, worship center, and children's area, give you bulletins, answer your questions, and help you find your way around our church. We are regular people, just like you, and we want to tell you about the great community we have here at First Baptist. Come on in and get to know us!  We can't wait to get to know you.  See you soon!

There is ample lighted parking adjacent to the side of the church off Ford Avenue (Hwy 144) across from Kroger.

Clothes.  Everyone dresses differently, some wear full suits, some business casual, some jeans or short and a t-shirt, for some, shoes are optional.  There is no dress code, we want to connect and do life together, clothes are just an expression of the personality God gave us.

Awesome...you will be greeted by someone with a bulletin and a smile who will offer to shake your hand.  Let's be honest, unless you are a great actor, we'll know you're a special guest but just in case, feel free to ask for directions.  The most likely thing that will happen is we will have someone take you to where you are going and they will talk to you and answer any questions you have.

Kids seem to be a common companion to lots of folks so we have choices for them and you.  During our Worship Services, we have Children's Church for ages 6 weeks to Kindergarten the entire service.  For 1st through 3rd Grade, the kids enjoy the music with their parents and are invited to go to Children's church after the music.  There is a volunteer with a sign and a gaggle of excited kids...they can follow the crowd.  If you prefer however, your kids are welcome to stay with you.  We have an entire page devoted to Your First Children's Ministry Experience.

Sorry, we don't do that.  We have a short greeting time where folks will speak to you and shake your hand.  You will be invited to fill out a visitor's card and discreetly drop it in the offering plate, boxes on the walls or at our visitor tent.  You can also fill out a virtual visitor card.

We do take an offering.  We believe that it is our membership's responsibility to give and take care of the financial needs of the church to fulfill our vision of connecting with those in need both in our church and the community.  Visitors are welcome to give but we don't take roll.  We also offer Online Giving.

We have several restrooms around the church with baby changing tables.  We also have a room for nursing mothers.  There is coffee available by the kitchen and you are welcome to eat and drink in the worship center.  There are cameras throughout the public areas of the building for the safety of you and your children.  We are fully ADA compliant and our Children's Ministry meets in the same rooms as our school, First Christian Academy, and are fully compliant with Bright from the Start, ensuring your children are in a safe and secure place.  We've told you about it, but check it out yourself, take a virtual tour courtesy of google maps and look inside.

Yes, for the kids and students, we have age appropriate classes at 10:10 AM.  For the adults, we have Life Groups also at 10:10 AM.

We're happy to answer them.  Feel free to fill out a visitor form or send us a message and we'll be happy to answer any and all questions.  Welcome to First Baptist Church Richmond Hill!!!
