I have three children that work. I want them to learn to honor God through tithing. I know if they don't learn it now, it will be a lifetime struggle. So, should we as parents say, "Your going to tithe like it or not" or should we plant the seed and pray for God to cultivate their heart? What are your thoughts?

Family Inheritence

I'm a little behind, nut this one is important for my family.

Growing up I learned to not discuss things as a family. Don't discuss problems or issues. Don't have an opinion, don't speak up for yourself.

Today, this makes it very tough in my relationship with my children. I have to force myself to sit down and openly reveal my heart and be tranparent, but when I do, God is always faithfull and the reward is great!

Consistency in my Cristian life suffers because of me. To many places to go, to many things to do. My day starts at 4 a.m. when it needs to start at 3:30. If I walk out the door without spending time in the word and talking to Jesus, then my whole days suffers because I spend his time around work and driving. Nothing can replace the preciouse time I spend with jesus in the morning! How convicting! There is no excuse!

Romans 6:8
8The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

This weeks - October 5, 2008 question:

In what ways do you struggle with consistency in your Christian life? How so?

Allow me to welcome you to "Parent Fuel." Certainly the response from our first week is a true indicator that we need as a church and as a nation are desperate for fresh energy to do the right things in your families.

At the end of first session a member of the church commented, "Pastor this could be the most important study we have every done." I would echo his words.

Over the next fifteen weeks we will be going deep into Satan' strongholds. He has for too long held families in captivity. It is time that we allow the fire of God to penetrate the dark areas and remove the bondages as well as allowing the fire of God to penetrate the right areas and fuel us for an awakening for what God has created us to be!

It is my prayer that you would claim the truth of II Corinthians 10:3-5 for your family during this series. Here is how the "Message" translates these verses; " The world is unprincipled. Its dog-eat-do out there! The world doesn't fight fair. But we don't live or fight our battles that way-never have and never will. The tools for our trade aren't for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture. We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and impulse into the structure of life shaped by God."

These verses speak to the heart of what God is going to do in our lives! Pray for me that I stay focused and faithful to God's task. Satan does not want us to take this journey together. Continue to pray for Sherry and the miracle God is going to do!

With you on the journey,
Pastor Keith

I don't know about anyone else, but the fact that we as parents have what it takes to fuel the fire of our kids through the power of Christ is too amazing for me than words! Only our Lord can take people from broken, abused families and transform them into the parents He desires us to be. We don't have to be failures! God has set us up for success through His Son!

Greetings!
